The Firth Brothers Building
The oak doors at the entrance to the building at 127 Hughson Street take you into the Art Deco foyer and to an impressive marble staircase. On the floor is a stylized capital F tiled inlay, a copy of the two stone letters at the top of the front façade of the building. In the foyer are 6 stained glass windows within alcoves.
Each floor of the building is wide open, with massive supporting columns. An abundance of natural light is let in by the wall-to-wall windows.
The front façade of the building on Hughson Street has been designated as heritage property. After being occupied since Firth Brother’s closing by another clothing manufacturer, Coppley, the building was recently purchased by a developer and is in the process of renovation.
